Small Businesses Should Pay Attention to Net Neutrality
Net Neutrality is an issue you can’t afford to ignore — it could jepordize the level playing field that small business owners have enjoyed on the Internet from day one.
Net Neutrality is about keeping Internet access equal for everyone. It calls for one level of access without multi-tiered pricing based on the content that you provide.
Net Neutrality supporters want the net to remain the way it is. Supporters include EBay, Google, Yahoo!, YouTube and other great content sites.
Opponents include major telecommunications companies like Comcast, AT&T, BellSouth, Verizon, Cisco, etc. that could make huge profits if they can control who has priority on the data pipeline.
Start with a YouTube video We Own the Internet that highlights the key issues through a ficticious company. On a side note, YouTube grew in popularity and size due to equal footing from net neutrality.
Watch Bill Moyer’s PBS special “THE NET@RISK” on the PBS website (Real Player is required). Follow the link to add your thought at his live discussion online.

I wrote my 2 Senators and Congressman several months ago but I notice that neither Senator has taken a position. SavetheInternet.com lists Georgia’s U.S. Senators’ votes on Net Neutrality as “Unknown.” If enough constituents write or call maybe we can help them formulate their opinion.
Speak now or the decision may be made without you. I hate to think that we’ll be telling our grandchildren that we remember when the Internet was a level playing field for companies of all sizes.
