Improve the Clarity of your PC Fonts in Windows XP
Do you want to see computer screen text clearer and reduce the strain on your eyes? If the letters on your screen seem faint and jagged you may be able to improve the clarity of the text by turning on the ClearType setting in Windows XP. The ClearType setting smooths out your fonts and makes them seem a bit thicker (not bolder).
If you use Internet Explorer as your browser, use this Microsoft online ClearType tuner. Since I use FireFox I downloaded and installed the Windows XP ClearType Tuner PowerToy. Both do the same thing.
The ClearType tuner turns on ClearType fonts and presents boxes of sample fonts. All you have to do is click on the box of text that looks the best to you.
I’ve installed this on different types of monitors and the quality and readability of the fonts improved on each one. For additional information on ClearType, read the Microsoft ClearType Information page.
